What are you reading? Wednesday

What are the pages you are flipping through this week?

I started the Fifty Shades of Grey book everyone is talking about...and I am not sure why everyone is talking about it. I mean, it's erotica, but there are better versions at Samhain and Ellora's Cave. This one makes me want to take a red marker to it and paint a very red swath through it. Shouldn't characters be sympathetic?

Of course, I haven't actually put it down and stopped reading...

After a small break my kids are back onto Magic Treehouse. We are reading Midnight on the Moon, it's so different from the previous ones, but they are fascinated!

What are you reading?

  1. aha yeah, I was the same with 50 Shades. I'm no expert on literature, but it's clearly no gem. However, I read the whole series. I'm a sucker. lol

After just finishing The Hunger Games I needed something light, so I'm currently reading Are You There, Vodka? It's Me Chelsea - by Chelsea Handler.

    1. I am a sucker too. After years of being desperate for English books (ie before Amazon Japan) it takes a lot to get me to put a book down. I think the only book I've ever purposely frogged was one of Dan Brown's.

Love Are You There Vodka? - Chelsea Handler is funny. But when I've caught her show it seems her best gags are in the books already so I despair of her next one!

  2. I'm reading A Tiny Bit Marvellous by Dawn French (of French and Saunders fame). It's hilarious, but I left it at work on Saturday and haven't been able to read any of it this week. :-(
It's about a family. It's told from the point of view of the mother and her two teens. The girl is trying to get on Britain's Got Talent or something similar and the boy is channelling Oscar Wilde. I have really enjoyed what I have read so far.

It's light at the moment, but this is the first novel of hers that I've read, so have no idea how it will go from now on.

    1. Dawn French? No idea she was an author! Sounds great though.
