For the first time in a long time I will not open WAYRW with a comment about the rain. Sorry to have bored you. I'm sure very soon it will be complaints about the heat!
Last week the story I chose for Short Story Monday was called Cicada Holiday. It piqued my interest and I ordered the related book for a great price- only $2.99 on Kindle. It's called Cicada and it's a YA story, not a vampire or dystopian though- aliens! It's a little freaky so far but not so much that I can't read it in the dark. I've never really read an alien story before, so it's new to me!
I parcelled out some magazines to my kids this weekend. Spinky has Chickadee, the Best Buddies issue, and Domba has Chirp, The Night Issue. They are loving them, as usual.
What are you reading this fine Wednesday?
I'm just about to start 11/22/63 by Steven King. Supposedly it's very different from his other books. I just bought a new picture book for the kids called Extra Yarn. Dooce had mentioned it was one of her favorite kid's books, and it got great reviews. I've only flipped through it, but I'm feeling a bit MEH about it. We will see how the kids like it.
ReplyDeleteI admire the valuable information you offered in your article Keep inspiring your readers thanks.
ReplyDeleteOMG I want Chirp!
ReplyDeleteI am reading a mindless thriller filled with espionage and intrigue: The Last Minute by Jeff Abbott. Mind candy for the summer. It is so hot and dry where live that we have been inside and reading a lot lately. Wish you could send some of your rain!
ReplyDeleteMy daughters are reading mind candy, too. Perfect for summer vacation. One is reading Garfield comics, and the other is reading President of the Whole 5th Grade by Sherri Winston (she is plotting her run for president of the 5th grade, which she will start in one month!)
I am reading nothing. Must start something new be it an ebook or novel.
ReplyDeleteKids are really into a book about Mickey Mouse at the moment. Jean {FWC} sent me a bunch of kids books her kids no longer needed and it was amoungst them. Noah is really loving "spork" too which I bought recently. He has not yet realized that a spork is a mixed fork/spoon and thinks of him just as a fork and often corrects me when I say spork- he loves the baby at the end though!
I love all of the Owlkids publications and I can't wait for my little girl to get into Chirp - she's still a bit too young, but showing growing interest. For my myself: I'm reading Geronimo Stilton in the Great Ice Age - a fun time-travelling graphic novel. My husband's wondering when I'll start reading grown-up stuff ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit late to the party here, but I'm reading The Ship Thieves by Sian Rees. It's the true story of convicts in the 1800s who steal a ship and escape from Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania).
ReplyDeleteK (aged 4) is reading his Chugginton annual and 13 Planets (from National Geographic) and T (aged 1) is enjoying Cuddle by Beth Shosan and any of his big brothers books that he can get his little hands on...
